A little more Sam

 Sam in his crib.

Jake's mom thinks Sam looks like my dad, which I couldn't see at first, but am starting to see a little more now.
Sammy on the play mat. Jake caught him smiling at himself in the mirror. We are still deciding if he's given his actual first smile yet. It seems to be a bit more elusive at this age than our other kids. And I am now officially caught up on blogging.

Marry Christmas 2010

We had fun Christmas morning. The kids were so excited that Santa came. And we all thought that baby Sam was our favorite present this year.

Baby Sam

Well, as most of you know we had our cute little baby on December 16, 2010. He weighed 8 pounds 5 ounces and was 21 inches long. I had a regular appointment with my OB scheduled that day. I woke up that morning with some symptoms of possibly being in labor, but with one false alarm with Lily's birth, I was a little nervous to get too excited. I talked to Jake and we packed some last minute things just in case, but Jake headed to work and we didn't put Jake or the kids stuff in the car. I think you see where this is headed. I had contractions all morning, but that had been a pretty regular occurrence with this pregnancy, so I didn't think too much of it. I did some cleaning and a few things before I packed up the kids and took them to my sisters so she could watch them while I went to the Dr's. My blood pressure was slightly elevated at the office and I told them if they waited til after my contraction it might go down. I saw the Dr. and he was explaining in great detail how I might not be able to be induced on the day the next week that we talked about. I kept thinking, "just check me, I don't think I'll make it that far." He finally checked me and said, "You're in labor girl, we need to get you downstairs." I asked him if I should have Jake come and he said, "um yeah!"

I called Jake quite frantically and said, "you better get here quick." It was weird waiting and in labor by myself for awhile while Jake made the trek from Clearfield to Murray. I teased Jake that I couldn't believe that he made me drive myself to the hospital while I was in labor. I didn't even know for sure if I was. I tried to time my contractions on the drive down, but it wasn't too easy considering I was driving and trying to entertain the kids in the back seat.

I pretty quickly got an epidural and it was fantastic. My epidural never worked like that with Lily. I think I should have got a refund on my first one. They actually were trying to stall my labor because I had the Strep B, so they wanted to have enough time to give me my antibiotics. I didn't end up getting the full course, but it all worked out, well sort of. I ended up getting C-dif from a combination of being in the hospital and having all my good bacteria killed by the antibiotic. Swell. Let's just say it was easy to lose some of the baby weight because everything went right through me. Sam ended up getting it as well. I am feeling great now and Sam is too. I am done with my antibiotics and he will be tomorrow.

Anyway, the labor went really well, I hardly had to push at all and our cute little guy was here. He was a little bruised at first, but we still thought he was super cute. He looks a lot like Jake and Lily to me so far. I think he will have hazel eyes though, unlike Lily's blue.

He has been a great baby. He can get pretty mad if something is bugging him, but for the most part he is great. He has been a wonderful sleeper and most nights he sleeps from about 10:30pm to 6:00am. I can't complain about that. Lily and Griff love him and are really sweet to him so far. It has been a bit of an adjustment trying to give them the attention they would like while taking care of Sam, but it hasn't been too bad at all.
Overall, this experience has been quite calm so far, which as you might imagine is quite different from our last birth experience. Well, I'm sure you really just wanted to see some pics of him so here you go.

 First Bath

 "What do you want?"

He liked his first bath at home just about as much as my other kids.

 I can't believe I have three kids.
I love this picture. Two of my sweeties.
 What an angel!
Lily loves holding him. Luckily, she didn't inherit my mauling gene from when I was her age.

Temple Square 2010

We finally made it to Temple Square to see the lights with the kids for the first time this year. They loved it and every time we drive by Salt Lake Griff asks to go see the lights again. I have quite a few memories of freezing cold, icy, somewhat miserable experiences on Temple Square, but not this time. It was so warm I couldn't believe it. I am sure being 9 months pregnant helped, but it was so warm that night, it was very pleasant. I love seeing the lights and seeing the Temple at this time of year. This was one of our last outings as a family of four.

Santa 2010

The kids first real bowling experience. They loved it. This was the least stressful of the parties so far. It's nice now that the kids are older, they can have a lot of fun.

We look forward to my dad's work Christmas/bowling party that he is in charge of every year. This year was no exception and the kids had so much fun.

The lone Thanksgiving photo

So nice!

Just one of the many nice bouquets Jake has given me.
